The ‘world’ is a web of interconnected processes. Everything is entangled with everything else, including our ‘selves’. We must seek to expand our identities beyond our bodily desires and nurture empathetic relationships that transcend traditional proximity. Clearly, mass-communications can be a tool used for this, but we must acknowledge that tools like the internet are still primitive and ineffective at conveying deeper meanings, especially when compared with complex systems like spirituality and politics.
